現代紅娘
我是通過朋友介紹而認識嘉斯汀的。聽說她要辦一本籌備婚禮的雜誌,以加國華人市場為目標,正在找一個懂國、粵、英語的公關,朋友問我有沒有興趣試試,聽着覺得好玩,便膽粗粗的答應下來。
第一次跟嘉斯汀見面,是在酒店的coffee shop。之前和她通過數次電話和電郵,感覺這女孩子做事很仔細,爽快得來不失專業,自己反倒緊張起來,別人是認認真真的創業,可不是鬧着玩的,既已答應人家,便得好好赴會,這次說是見面,其實是見工,總不能失禮自己和朋友。
辦婚禮雜誌的會是個怎樣的人呢?會是個老公打本做生意的新婚小婦人…還是個八八卦卦口水多過茶的俏師奶…又可能是個雄心萬丈誓要創一番事業的女强人…想着想着,這位現代紅娘便出現了。咦!眼前人年輕清秀,看上去像剛畢業的大學生,兼且還是待嫁姑娘,跟之前想像的大有出入。
原來她數年前傳理系畢業,一直在公關公司工作,志願是開創自己的公司。聽她娓娓道來早期的計劃概念,現時的進度,預計的困難和發展,一字一句有板有眼,絕不馬虎含糊。不過她從小在加國長大,對中文一竅不通,是名乎其實的黄皮白心,問她為何會選中國人為市場,她說”I have been to many Chinese Wedding these years. It is a hugh industry. Chinese are willing to spend a lot of money on weddings, do you think so?”我當然同意,別說是辦婚禮的主人家,我們這些被邀的賓客,付出的人情也可以是不菲的!
席間我們討論了中西方婚禮文化的異趣,以及一些雜誌裏可能用得上的資料,一個多小時的interview, 輕鬆而愉快。最後談到稿費的問題,倒是我心虛的說:「不如我先試着給你寫一兩篇,你找人看看是否滿意,我們才决定怎樣算錢吧。」
不是我嫌錢腥扮大方,只是紅娘創業不比婚嫁事小,紅線所拉的不只佳偶,更是千萬生意,不敢期望自己可幫大忙,但最起碼不要幫倒忙,還是先好好預備,交出功課是正經。
各位資深公關人,有否絕招可傳授?小女子虛心受教,先行謝過。

so, is it going to be full time or part time? any other duty besides PR, say, writing feature story, advertizing or stuff like that?
We will interview some vendors e.g. bridal make up artist, bridal shop owners, jewellery designers.... and then write stories about it. In October, there will be a big scale exhibition. Both of us will be MC. Probably some more duties coming, don't know yet.
Any hint how to be a good PR?
well then, i've never been a PR before so can't offer any trick of the trade to you. but of all the PR ppl i met, i like those who aren't hard-sell, treat you as a friend, keep in touch even when there isn't anything she/he wants to 'sell', not pushy or bossy...and i avoid those who don't even know how she/he can sell me since she/he simply doesn't have a clue of how i can be of any help to their clients...have come across one who wants to sell an education product in my radio programme (which is about traveling!!!)so, can't do much about it then, can you?
自問不是一個合格的公關,因為唔夠細心同體貼.公關其實要做好多濕碎野,所以最好要訓練自己要有記性,兼且腦筋要快(最好連面口都要轉得夠快).不過講到尾,始終network係最緊要,所以要令自己的人際網絡盡量擴大,令自己乜人都識d,乜窿路都有d.
不過講還講,上面所列舉的,我全部都做唔到.所以你明點解我到依家都仲係”霉得得”啦 :p
